We tested the Harley-Davidson X440 and were blown away by its performance. Is this a wonderful bundle, or is there a kink in the works? And does it have what it takes to compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350? In this blog, we attempt to answer these questions. Despite just riding the motorcycle for a few hours, we were able to assess the engine performance and handling of the X440. However, because we only evaluated the motorcycle on the racecourse, we cannot comment on its ride qualities.

The engine on the Harley-Davidson X440 feels refined until around 4,000rpm, after which slight vibrations begin to appear, particularly around the seat and handlebar. Having said that, the motor has good low and mid-range torque, which contributes to its superb tractability. The six-speed gearbox also provides crisp shifts.
The X440 is outfitted with 43mm KYB upside-down forks up front and dual gas-charged coil-over springs in the rear. The motorbike is supported by a trellis frame, and the braking system includes disc brakes on both ends as well as dual-channel ABS.

Although we can’t say much about the ride quality of the motorcycle, it has superb handling for a laid-back roadster. You can effortlessly tip it into corners, and it changes directions with little effort. Even the brakes are effective in terms of stopping power and advancement.
