On June 27, the first batch of motorcycles produced under the BajajTriumph alliance will be formally unveiled. A street scrambler and a naked street roadster are the two body types that will be available. Here is all the information you need about the upcoming Triumph Street Scrambler 400, even though we are interested in testing both motorcycles.
Design
The Triumph Street Scrambler 400 will be inspired by the company’s renowned Bonneville bike line, including the Speed Twin 900. However, it is likely that some modern touches will be added, and the overall styling will be reminiscent of a new retro Scrambler rather than a modern classic.
According to spy photos, the motorcycle will have a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a circular LED headlight and a slightly sloped tail portion. The look is definitely Triumph, but the beak-style front fender and 19-inch front wheel give the motorbike a rough appearance.
Hardware and Features
There isn’t much information available regarding the Triumph Street Scrambler 400’s equipment and features. However, it is safe to assume that the motorcycle will have LED lighting throughout, a round digital instrument cluster and possibly Bluetooth connectivity. It may also include a ride-by-wire throttle and a switchable dual-channel ABS system.
As a premium offering, we anticipate it to include premium components as well. Spy photographs show that the motorcycle will have offset-type upside-down forks, which should provide more suspension travel than its road-going sister and a preload-adjustable mono-shock in the back. It will also likely have radially mounted brakes with discs on both ends.
Specifications of the Engine
The Triumph Street Scrambler will have two engine options, according to our sources: a 250cc motor and a 400cc one. However, the India-spec model will most likely only be available with the 400cc engine at first. Although power figures are not yet available, the liquid-cooled motor is expected to produce around 35-40bhp and a similar torque figure. We do know that the engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox, and an assist and slipper clutch will almost certainly be standard.
Price and release date
Mr Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, revealed just a few days ago that the India-made Triumph motorcycles will make their global debut on June 27, 2023, at a ceremony in London. Following the global debut, the Street Scrambler 400 and its road-going twin, the Triumph Street 400, are expected to be launched in India in August-September 2023.
In terms of pricing, we anticipate that the Bajaj Triumph motorcycles will be priced slightly higher than the KTM models. The naked roadster is expected to cost less than Rs. 3 lacks, while the scrambler may cost a few thousand more.
