Ather Energy has introduced its most costly electric scooter, the 450 Apex, in India at Rs. 1,89,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). It looks similar to the usual model on the design front but gets clear body panels on the side which display the orange coloured frame on the inside. Then, Ather has additionally covered the belt drive on the left side for added convenience.
The 450 Apex is Ather’s most powerful e-scooter, and it’s also the priceiest. It is equipped with a 7kW motor and a 3.7kWh battery. The arrangement gives 100kmph of top speed and a 157km verified range. The top speed of the 450 Apex is 10 mph faster than that of the base model. Even the 450 Apex’s 0 to 40 kmph acceleration time is faster—2.9 seconds—than the 450X’s—3.3 seconds.
Six ride modes are available on the Ather 450 Apex: Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, Sport, Warp, and Warp Plus. The latter is a brand-new feature that was unveiled with the 450 Apex. A plethora of amenities, including complete LED illumination, a seven-inch touchscreen TFT with smartphone connectivity, park assist, hill hold, auto indicator cut-off, coasting regenerative braking, and Magic Twist, are also included in Ather’s scooter configuration. According to Ather, the Magic Twist is an improved form of regenerative braking that enables the rider to stop completely even when fully charged.
The telescopic front forks and mono-shock of the new Ather electric scooter provide stability. It has two disc brakes: a 200mm front and a 190mm rear, both set on 12-inch wheels. The Ather 450 Apex weighs 111.6 kg and has a 22-liter underseat storage capacity.
