Last year, Royal Enfield unveiled its most awaited motorcycle, the Himalayan 450. We rode it up into the northern hills and now have it in the BikeKhoj long-term fleet. The bike has already logged a few thousand km and appears to be growing on the team as well. If you are considering purchasing one, here are some things you should know.
What are the specs and fuel efficiency of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450?
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is equipped with the brand’s latest Sherpa 450 engine. It is a 452cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that produces 40bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,000rpm. It is coupled to a six-speed gearbox. According to our experience with the ADV, the engine feels flat until about 4,000 rpm, after which the power unloads quickly but gradually. The bike speeds quickly and is exciting and entertaining to ride.
The Himalayan 450 yielded a fuel efficiency score of 30.85 km/l in the BikeKhoj test. The bike was ridden in both open motorways and the city, in a variety of traffic situations. The bike’s 17-liter fuel tank and the previously mentioned fuel efficiency should allow for an average range of about 520 km, which is a sizable amount.
What colours are available for the new Himalayan 450?
Five paint schemes are available on the Himalayan 450 from Royal Enfield: Kaza Brown, Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, Kamet White, and Hanle Black.
What are the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450’s variations, costs, and rivals?
The Himalayan 450 is available in four different models: Base, Pass, Summit, and Hanle Black. The Base model costs Rs. 2.85 lakh, the Pass trim costs Rs. 2.89 lakh, the Summit costs Rs. 2.93 lakh, and the Hanle Black costs Rs. 2.98 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Chennai). The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 competes against the KTM 390 Adventure, Triumph Scrambler 400X, and Yezdi Adventure.
